In case you haven't been following the gossip, Levi Johnston, the father of Sarah Palin's grandson Tripp, has been doing everything he can to cash in on the media storm that is the Palin family. Poor Bristol Palin, caught in the middle of all this.

The latest is that Levi is flat out calling Sarah Palin a liar. He says he did in fact live at the Palin residence and that the Alaskan Governor knew he was having intercourse with Bristol. Hm...Sarah has absolutely no reason to not be forthcoming about her daughter's relationship with Levi. Okay, so he stayed there some nights - not the same thing as living there.

As with any relationship failure, there are often hurt feelings on one or both sides of the board. Sarah's status as a political figure no doubt magnifies that, but that does not give Levi the right to call his Governor a liar. In fact, I think Mr. Johnston owes Sarah Palin a debt of gratitude. Very few parents are quite so supportive and openly welcoming when an older guy impregnates their 17-year-old daughter.

I would expect more maturity and appreciation from a guy who otherwise has nothing going for him. If he plays his cards right and doesn't completely alienate the other half of his son's family, perhaps sometime down the road Sarah can help him get a career started. White trash or not, a little politeness goes a long way.
